| In May 2000, members of
the Rotary Club of Meinerzhagen and their partners visited us for the first time.
|
| Our visitors arrived on the Friday in
appalling weather & traffic conditions, so we whisked them straight to the
comfort of their
hotel - The Swan
in Tarporley. |
 |
|
| However we didn't
let them rest for long before we started the weekend off gently with a
familiarising buffet at The Rising Sun - |
 |
| which turned out to be a game
of sardines, with over 60 of us crammed into the restaurant! |
| On Saturday, we broke into
pairs of couples for a day out in Cheshire. Most of us went to Chester in the
morning. |
 |
| Town crier David Mitchell made a special welcoming cry for our visitors. |
 |
| After lunch we went to
various destinations, including Errdig and Little
Moreton Hall, to show off Cheshire & the surrounding region. |

|
| In the evening we had a
formal meal at Greens Brasserie in The Portal Premier Golf Club. |
 |
| Our President
Tom Kenny, and Meinerzhagen President Hans Tepohl signed a formal twinning agreement. |
 |
| Our visitors presented us with a new
Club Bell, and we gave them copies of out 'Tarporley Then and Now' book for
every member of the club. A superb evening of fellowship was spent over the
dinner, followed by serious discussion (by some) back at The Swan. |
 |
| On Sunday there was little
time for anything other than whisking the party back to Manchester to get their
flight home. |

|
| Everyone
enjoyed the weekend so much, it really cemented our relationship, and
we all went off to Germany soon afterwards to play the return match! |
